  Indoor Plumbing Grants

Williamsburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development are looking for applicants to apply for our Indoor Plumbing Rehabilitation Loan Program.

To be eligible for assistance, an applicant and his/her property must meet the following conditions:

  • The house must be located in the city limits of the City of Williamsburg.

  • The house must either lack complete indoor plumbing or lack an indoor bathroom.

    To be classified as lacking complete indoor plumbing, the house must lack one or more of the following approved or approvable water sources: a waste water disposal method, a functioning kitchen sink, a bathroom with a functioning toilet, a functioning bathtub or shower, and sink with hot/cold running water. This is not intended to include units with plumbing problems caused by lack of maintenance. Lacking a bathroom - lack of a toilet within the foot print of the house, or contains a toilet within the foot print of the house, but the waste drops directly on the ground under the house.

  • The applicant must be a homeowner that has lived in the home for at least one (1) year.

  • The gross household income must be below 80% of the median income adjusted for the family size for the City of Williamsburg.

The occupant must have fee simple ownership of the property.

Applicants may be eligible to receive a loan/grant up to $45,000.00.

After the household preliminary eligibility has been established the applicant must complete a formal loan application for Rehabilitation, and allow The Housing Authority Rehabilitation Specialist to conduct a complete Section 8 Inspection on the property.
